Senior Architect - JAVA and Agentic AI

We seek an Expert-Level JAVA Architect  who shares our passion for innovation and change. This role is critical to helping our business partners evolve and adapt to consumers' personalized expectations in this new technological era.

Key Responsibilities

● Lead solution design for complex APIs and integrations across the PWS platform

● Define technical standards, service boundaries, API contracts, data flows, and integration patterns

● Guide application design across Java/Spring, REST, event-driven, and containerized environments

● Refine epics and stories with Product, BA, Development, and QA partners, identifying dependencies, risks, and non-functional requirements

● Review code for design quality, maintainability, performance, reliability, and testing

● Build prototypes or production code when needed to validate designs or unblock delivery

● Align teams on shared contracts, dependencies, and technical decisions

● Improve platform quality including observability, resilience, performance, and productio support

● Mentor engineers and technical leads through design guidance and code review 

● 8+ years of software engineering experience, including enterprise API delivery and 3+ years in a Solution Architect, Software Architect, Lead Developer, Principal Engineer, or

   comparable technical leadership role

● Hands-on experience with Java, Spring, RESTful services, and distributed systems

● Strong hands-on experience with: Java,Spring / Spring Boot,RESTful APIs, Distributed systems,API integrations

● Strong understanding of: ○ API contracts and design,API versioning,Backward compatibility,Error handling, Idempotency,Event-driven integration patterns

● Deep technical knowledge of API contracts, versioning, compatibility, error handling,idempotency, and event-driven integration

● Cloud & DevOps: Experience with cloud-hosted, containerized applications, CI/CD,Observability, resilience, and automated testing

● Architecture translation: Ability to turn high-level requirements into practical architecture and buildable technical work

● Code review & coaching: Experience reviewing production code and coaching developers through actionable feedback

● Leadership & communication: Strong communication skills and the ability to drive decisions across teams without direct authority

● Experience in AWS preferred or any cloud experience

● Experience in Copilot

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting multiple API teams or a shared enterprise platform

• Background in financial services, retirement services, or another regulated industry

• Experience modernizing legacy systems or applying domain-driven design

• Familiarity with API management, service security, and identity patterns

• Experience establishing engineering standards and reusable platform patterns

• Strong production troubleshooting skills using logs, metrics, and tracing
