We are seeking an experienced Full Stack Java Lead Architect to join our Financial Services technology practice.
This individual will serve as the primary technical authority on client engagements, driving end-to-end architecture and solution design for large-scale, mission-critical applications supporting banking, capital markets, insurance, or payments clients. The ideal candidate combines deep hands-on Java engineering expertise with the strategic vision and client-facing presence expected of a senior consulting leader.
Key Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end solution architecture for full stack Java applications, from requirements through design, development, deployment, and production support.
- Lead technical design sessions with client stakeholders, translating complex business requirements (trading, payments, risk, regulatory reporting, core banking, etc.) into scalable technical solutions.
- Define and enforce architecture standards, design patterns, coding guidelines, and technology roadmaps across engagement teams.
- Provide hands-on technical leadership across the stack: Java/Spring Boot backend services, RESTful/GraphQL APIs, microservices, and modern JavaScript frontend frameworks (React/Angular).
- Architect solutions for high-availability, high-throughput, and low-latency systems, with attention to financial services requirements (auditability, data integrity, security, regulatory compliance).
- Guide cloud migration and modernization initiatives (AWS, Azure, or GCP), including containerization (Docker/Kubernetes) and CI/CD pipeline design.
- Conduct architecture reviews, code reviews, and performance tuning; identify and remediate technical debt and scalability bottlenecks.
- Mentor and provide technical direction to development teams, including onshore/offshore delivery pods.
- Partner with client CTOs, enterprise architects, and business sponsors to shape technology strategy and roadmaps.
- Support presales activities: solution estimation, RFP responses, proof-of-concept development, and technical presentations to prospective clients.
- Ensure solutions comply with financial industry regulations and standards (e.g., SOX, PCI-DSS, GDPR, FFIEC guidelines) as applicable.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and evaluate their applicability to client business problems.
Required Qualifications
- 12+ years of progressive software engineering experience, including 5+ years in an architect or technical lead capacity.
- Deep expertise in Java (Java 11+), Spring Framework / Spring Boot, and microservices architecture.
- Strong front-end development experience with React, Angular, or similar modern JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks.
- Proven experience architecting solutions for financial services clients (banking, capital markets, insurance, asset management, or payments).
- Hands-on experience with RESTful API design, event-driven architecture (Kafka, RabbitMQ), and integration patterns.
- Strong background in relational and NoSQL databases (Oracle, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Cassandra).
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and containerization/orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Solid understanding of DevOps practices, CI/CD tooling (Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps), and infrastructure-as-code.
- Demonstrated experience in a consulting or professional services environment, including client-facing delivery and presales support.
- Strong knowledge of security best practices, including OAuth2/OIDC, encryption standards, and secure coding practices relevant to financial systems.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and presentation skills.
- Ability to travel to client sites as needed.
