Senior Database Engineer (SQL Server, Oracle & MySQL) - MTY

At Globant, we are looking for a Senior Database Engineer to join our InfraOps team. This role is ideal for someone passionate about maintaining high-quality database environments while driving modernization, automation, and cloud transformation initiatives.

You will play a key role in ensuring performance, stability, and security across database platforms, while collaborating with application teams and architects to optimize system performance and reliability.

What You Will Do

• Design, build, optimize, and maintain database systems.

• Ensure efficient data storage, retrieval, performance tuning, and index optimization.

• Troubleshoot complex database and application performance issues.

• Manage schema design, stored procedures, data integrity, and indexing strategies.

• Maintain and improve disaster recovery and backup procedures.

• Support CI/CD pipelines and automation initiatives.

• Participate in cloud migration projects (On-Prem to Cloud).

• Monitor database storage, performance, and capacity planning.

• Ensure SLA compliance and operational excellence.

• Collaborate with developers and solution architects in a consultative manner.

• Document, test, and implement database updates and improvements.

• Provide performance and stability reports proactively.

• Work in both OLTP and OLAP environments.

• Support operational or project activities outside regular business hours when required.

What We Are Looking For

Must Have:

• • 7–8+ years of experience in Database Administration / Database Engineering.
  • Strong hands-on experience with:
    • SQL Server (preferred)
    • Oracle
    • MySQL
  • Proven experience working with at least two of these engines in production environments.
  • Strong expertise in:
    • Performance tuning and indexing
    • Backup, restore, replication, and disaster recovery
    • Database security and access control
  • Experience with:
    • Data migrations (on-prem to cloud, cloud to cloud)
    • Database installation, configuration, and upgrades
    • Monitoring, troubleshooting, and production support
  • Strong knowledge of T-SQL (or equivalent depending on DB engine).
  • Experience working in mission-critical / high-availability environments.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong ownership mindset and ability to work independently.

Nice to Have:

• Experience with On-Prem to Cloud database migrations.

• Experience building cloud model servers end-to-end.

• Experience supervising or mentoring other DBAs.
