Data Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Data Scientist to join our dynamic team in the Philippines. This role will apply your specialist skills to design, build, and deploy high-quality data solutions that enable smarter, data-driven decisions across the business.This hands-on role will involve working across a variety of modern data technologies including cloud-native data platforms (GCP, Azure), machine learning model deployment, data pipelines (ETL/ELT), master data and governance tools, and analytics/visualisation platforms. You will collaborate closely with other engineers, analysts, architects, and business stakeholders to deliver mission-critical solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Work with team members and business SMEs to understand business problems, opportunities, data requirements, and technical needs
• Build and deploy back-end software services, data applications/services, and APIs
• Design, implement, and support data pipelines and integrations on cloud platforms
• Productionise machine learning models in collaboration with Data Scientists and ML Engineers
• Document key components and share knowledge across squads and chapters
• Ensure compliance with data governance, privacy, security, and technology standards
• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional squads and attend agile ceremonies (e.g., stand-ups, sprint planning)
• Support infrastructure deployment using DevOps practices and infrastructure as code
• Provide third-level support and participate in the change management process when required
• Assist with operational handover to support teams for newly developed solutions

What Will Help You Succeed

• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related quantitative field
• 5+ years of experience in Data Engineering or a similar role
• Solid backend development experience, particularly with Python and APIs
• Proven ability to build and maintain cloud data pipelines on GCP
• Experience with distributed computing frameworks like Apache Spark
• Strong working knowledge of Python, PySpark, and SQL
• Good understanding of databases and data structures (both relational and non-relational)
• Experience working in Agile teams and sprint-based environments
• Familiarity with DevOps, CI/CD, and infrastructure as code practices
• Experience with object-oriented programming, unit testing, and test-driven development (TDD)

Desirable Skills

• Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and/or Azure Databricks
• Familiarity with secure coding practices and handling PII data
• Experience working with both structured and unstructured data
• Exposure to retail datasets, including in-store and eCommerce data
• Understanding of data science workflows and experience productionising ML models
