Senior SQL Server Production DBA - Mty, GDL or CDMX

At Globant, we are looking for a Senior SQL Server Production DBA to join our InfraOps team. This role is ideal for a hands-on engineer passionate about administering mission-critical, high-availability database environments, driving cloud migrations, and solving complex performance challenges. You will work closely with Development, Infrastructure, Cloud, and Architecture teams to ensure continuous availability, security, and operational excellence across our SQL Server platforms.

What You Will Do

• Administer, monitor, and support production Microsoft SQL Server environments to guarantee maximum availability and stability.
• Perform deep-dive performance troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and query tuning using native execution plan analysis and diagnostic tools.
• Identify and resolve server, instance, and query-level bottlenecks, including locks, deadlocks, wait statistics, CPU, memory, and I/O constraints.
• Manage, configure, and maintain Always On Availability Groups and execute High Availability & Disaster Recovery (HA/DR) strategies.
• Design, implement, test, and audit Backup & Recovery strategies, maintenance tasks, and SQL Server Agent jobs.
• Lead and execute end-to-end SQL Server migrations from On-Premises to Cloud, managing cutover, rollback strategies, and post-migration validation.
• Administer SQL Server across cloud environments in both IaaS and PaaS models:
• Azure: SQL Server on Azure VMs, Azure SQL Database, and Azure SQL Managed Instance.
• AWS: SQL Server on Amazon EC2 and Amazon RDS for SQL Server.
• Manage logins, roles, security permissions, patches, upgrades, and support database compliance audits.
• Participate in operational automation and continuous improvement initiatives for database ops.

What We Are Looking For

Must Have:

• 5+ years of proven experience as a SQL Server DBA / Production DBA managing high-criticality, 24x7 production environments.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, IT, or a related field.
• Advanced expertise in Microsoft SQL Server Administration (installation, configuration, upgrades, patching, and maintenance).
• Deep hands-on experience with Always On Availability Groups and complex Backup & Recovery scenarios.
• Strong proficiency in T-SQL, query performance tuning, index optimization, and execution plan analysis.
• Proven experience managing SQL Server in Cloud environments (Azure SQL DB / Managed Instance / VMs and AWS RDS / EC2).
• Hands-on experience executing On-Premises to Cloud SQL Server migrations.
• Conversational and technical English proficiency to collaborate effectively with global cross-functional teams.
• Experience supporting 24x7 mission-critical operations and incident response.

• Experience integrating database deployments into CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure automation.
• Experience building end-to-end cloud database models from scratch.
• Experience mentoring or supervising junior DBA team members.
